It is IMPORTANT to differentiate between Training and Certification. They are TWO SEPARATE issues. The NCLC does no training whatsoever - only Laser Certifications. ANYONE may qualify for eligibility of an NCLC Laser Certification if they meet the requirements listed in the handbook. That means that applicants can submit evidence of laser training from ANY GROUP that offers laser training, provided it meets the required number of accredited hours for qualification.

PROCTORS are required for all testing. Our primary worldwide proctor organization is ETA international. You may apply to take exams at any of over 755 locations worldwide through ETA International, or take them online through secure online ETA testing. You can find those other ETA in-person proctored locations by clicking "exam locations" at left. You first must be approved by the NCLC before you contact them.

AFFILIATES have NCLC authorized proctors to administer the NCLC Laser Certification Exams to qualified individuals at their own training courses. These affiliated programs offer their own training. Training is not from the NCLC. Affiliates simply serve as a proctor for testing.

ASSOCIATES do not have assigned NCLC proctors to administer the exams. Instead they organize the application process to the NCLC on behalf of their students, and help expedite submission of required documents. After the applications are approved, the applicant will contact ETA International to schedule their exam either online or with an ETA proctor. The Associate offers their own training. Training is not from the NCLC.

Applicants are not required to train through an Affiliated or Associate program in order to qualify for NCLC exams and certification. The NCLC does not "approve" or "accredit" either Affiliate or Associate courses in any way.The NCLC does not discriminate and does not restrict nor limit the training of an applicant to any one organization.
